Anna grew up in Fife and graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 1994. Following a two-year internship at Liphook Equine Hospital, she spent four years working in equine referral hospitals in Australia and New Zealand, developing a particular interest in stud medicine and foaling work.

She returned to the UK to complete specialist training at the Royal Veterinary College, gaining her Certificate in Equine Internal Medicine.

After many years in equine practice in Sussex, she joined Bristol University Vet School, where she worked in both first-opinion and referral practice. Anna is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and received a teaching prize in 2017 for redesigning the equine reproduction curriculum.

Anna has presented internationally, published research papers, and continues to teach and examine within the veterinary profession.

Outside work, she enjoys hiking with her dogs and is a keen marathon runner.
